Arthur nicolair discovered the Tetanus in 1884. He couldn`t study the illness closely , but he confirmed that bacteria generated toxin by inyecting soil containing the bacteria into animals. 5 years later a japanese Shibasaburo Kitasato cultivated tetanus bacterium in pure culture. A year later he could create a antitoxin. After the first war year , english scientist , developed a better antitoxin that they used in The second war year .

Types of tetanus

How many types of tetanus exist ?:
There are 4 types :

Generalised Tetanus: Is the most common type. The 80% of the causes are produced by this type of tetanus. This causes painful sparms on muscles such as :the neck, trunk, and extremities. Or causes anormalities in the nervious system. You have a death rate over 10% or 20%.

Neotonal Tetanus: This exist at born. It is an infection in the umbilical stump. This have a duration of 4 days. It is faster than the others tetanus types. If the mother of the child has been vacunated to suffer the tetanus, the child can be help to give them passive inmunity. But this type have a 15% of death rate.

Local Tetanus: The porcent of fatal desease is of 1%.This type is when you have contractions and sparms in the same injury.  It lasts for only a few weeks. It`s not so serious like Generalised tetanus, but if you don`t complete you treatment it can produce Generalised tetanus.

Cephalic tetanus: This is a rare case. It is sometimes produced in ear infections. The bacteria is in the ear or around the head. This causes , afeccts cranial nerves and facial nerves.
